Overview

About Tile Regrouting

Tile regrouting is one of the highest-return jobs you can do on a bathroom. For a third of the cost of a makeover and a tenth of the cost of a renovation, you get tiles that look almost new.

The decision between regrouting and renovating comes down to the tiles themselves. If the tiles are structurally sound (no cracks, no popping, no lippage), the grout is the main problem. Regrouting solves it. If the tiles are failing, no amount of new grout will help.

Our network regrouting specialists grind out the existing grout mechanically to the full depth of the tile edge, vacuum thoroughly, then apply new polymer-modified grout. The work is noisy (angle grinders for an hour or two) and dusty but finishes quickly. Most bathrooms are back in service within 48 hours.

Silicone gets replaced at the same time. The mouldy silicone at floor-wall and wall-basin junctions is often the biggest visible problem. New silicone applied with a clean bead, full adhesion on both sides, and a mildew-resistant rating will hold up for 3 to 5 years.

What We Solve

Common situations our network handles.

Recognise any of these?

  • Grout lines are stained black or discoloured despite cleaning.
  • Silicone at floor-wall junctions has gone mouldy or shrunk back.
  • You are selling the house and need the bathroom presentable fast.
  • One section of grout has cracked or crumbled out, usually at the shower.

Here is what we do about it.

  • Mechanical grout removal and cleaning to sound tile edges.
  • New colour-matched grout, full-depth application.
  • Silicone strip-out and replacement with mildew-resistant grade.
  • Optional sealer application to extend the regrout life by 3 to 5 years.

FAQ

Tile Regrouting: your questions.

How much does bathroom regrouting cost in Adelaide?

+

Most bathroom regrouting in Adelaide costs between $650 and $1,800. Shower-only regrouting starts around $400. Full bathroom regrouting with silicone replacement typically lands at $1,200 to $1,800.

Can regrouting fix water damage?

+

Regrouting fixes cosmetic damage (staining, mildew, broken grout). It does not fix waterproofing failures. If you have active water penetration, you need bathroom waterproofing, not regrouting.

How long does regrouting last?

+

A properly regrouted bathroom should last 8 to 12 years before the grout starts discolouring again. Silicone typically lasts 3 to 5 years before needing replacement. A yearly grout seal can extend the interval.

Can I change the grout colour?

+

Yes. Regrouting is an opportunity to change from dated white to a modern mid-grey or charcoal, which looks cleaner and ages better. Our network specialists keep stock of common colours and can match most existing grouts if you want like-for-like.
