About Tapware Installation
Tapware changes the feel of a bathroom more than most homeowners expect. A set of cheap chrome mixers in matte black makes even a mid-range renovation feel considered. Installation matters: a badly installed set looks off-kilter forever.
Our network plumbers install tapware daily. Brass alignment, spout projection, handle orientation, and seal engagement all need to be correct the first time. Manufacturer templates are a starting point; on-site adjustments account for the actual wall, tile, and bench geometry.
Thermostatic shower systems (the TMV or thermostatic mixing valve) are a common 2026 upgrade, especially in households with young children or elderly residents. These valves set a maximum temperature so the shower cannot scald. They need commissioning: setting the temperature, pressure-testing, and documenting.
Wall-mounted spouts are an aesthetic choice that looks clean but changes the plumbing. The water supply comes from a concealed mixer behind the wall, with the spout penetrating the tile. This work is almost always done during tiling, not after, because cutting a clean hole into a finished tile is very difficult.
Common situations our network handles.
Recognise any of these?
- New tapware has arrived but the existing plumbing is not compatible.
- The previous installer did not pressure-test and there is a slow drip.
- You are switching to wall-mounted spouts and need plumbing relocation behind the wall.
- Progressive valves or thermostatic shower systems need specialist installation knowledge.
Here is what we do about it.
- Licensed plumber installation with pressure testing and warranty documentation.
- Plumbing relocation for wall-mounted configurations (done during tiling phase).
- Thermostatic shower valve commissioning for consistent water temperature.
- Outlet alignment correction to match manufacturer templates.

Tapware Installation: your questions.
Who should install my new tapware?
+
A licensed plumber. In South Australia, tapware installation is plumbing work and must be done by someone with a current licence. Unlicensed installation voids manufacturer warranties and insurance.
How much does tapware installation cost in Adelaide?
+
Basic basin or bath mixer swap: $180 to $320 per fitting. Wall-mounted spout with new plumbing: $450 to $850. Full tapware package (basin, bath, shower): $650 to $1,400.
Can I install tapware myself if I am handy?
+
You can swap a basin mixer yourself legally in South Australia, provided no pipework is altered. Anything involving wall plumbing, new connections, or water pressure changes must be done by a licensed plumber. If you sell the home, the work may need to be certified.
What tapware brands do you install?
+
All major Australian brands: Phoenix, Meir, Sussex, Nero, Brodware, ABI, Rogerseller, Caroma. Imported brands welcome: Hansgrohe, Gessi, Brodware, Grohe, Watermark. Every installer in our network has worked on at least the major mid-tier brands.
