About Tapware Installation
Tapware changes the feel of a bathroom more than most homeowners expect. A set of cheap chrome mixers in matte black makes even a mid-range renovation feel considered. Installation matters: a badly installed set looks off-kilter forever.
Experienced plumbers install tapware daily. Brass alignment, spout projection, handle orientation, and seal engagement all need to be correct the first time. Manufacturer templates are a starting point; on-site adjustments account for the actual wall, tile, and bench geometry.
Thermostatic shower systems (the TMV or thermostatic mixing valve) are a common 2026 upgrade, especially in households with young children or elderly residents. These valves set a maximum temperature so the shower cannot scald. They need commissioning: setting the temperature, pressure-testing, and documenting.
Wall-mounted spouts are an aesthetic choice that looks clean but changes the plumbing. The water supply comes from a concealed mixer behind the wall, with the spout penetrating the tile. This work is almost always done during tiling, not after, because cutting a clean hole into a finished tile is very difficult.
